Charity Fund «Pilgrim»

 The Charity Fund “ Pilgrim” in Mariupol at the Church of Good Changes carries out the largest rehab project for  addicted children, adolescents and adults at the territory of the former USSR. Presently only in the Center of children’s rehabilitation “Republic “Pilgrim” about 70 adolescents of the most complicated social category have their adaptation. These are the street kids who got used to live in basements, the overwhelming majority of them has a real and often very deep drug or toxic addiction.

    Within the short period of time since February 2000 more than 2700 adolescents have had their rehab course in the center, 60% of them are returned to their families or state orphanages. Many of them were fostered or adopted. A year ago in the Charity Fund “Pilgrim” one more project was started – its purpose is to give family to each child. 3 foster homes have been already created and in each of them 6-12 kids live. One of them is directed to the adoption of HIV+ children. This is the only foster home for the kids with such a status in CIS.
    Alongside with the children’s center the net of rehab centers for adults functions. Having started at the Church of Good Changes in Mariupol this project has already occupied 31 regions in Ukraine and Russia. Already several thousands of people came back to normal life from the drug dope. Generally for the given moment  more than 400 people having drug addiction of extreme degree pass their rehab course in these centers.
    The activity of the charity fund touches upon the people who are in prisons and tubercular hospitals. The active work with children-invalids as well as with deaf people are held. The adaptation center functions in the fund too, it helps to adapt to normal life, to restore the documents, to find a job and to get a temporary lodging to people who had had the rehab course and had returned from prisons.
